Welcome to the 19th International Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Computing (ISPDC 2020) 5–8 July in Warsaw, Poland. The conference aims at presenting original research which advances the state of the art in the field of Parallel and Distributed Computing paradigms and applications. Parallel and distributed computing is today a hot topic in science, engineering and society. It develops new theoretical and practical methods for the modeling, design, analysis, evaluation and programming of future parallel/ distributed computing systems including relevant applications. The organizers of the ISPDC 2020 conference are the Institute of Computer Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences (ICS PAS) in cooperation with the Polish Japanese Academy of Information Technology (PJAIT), being one of the leading research institutes in computer science and a leading private university in information technology in Poland, respectively, located in Warsaw.

The organizing of the ISPDC 2020 conference has been seriously disturbed by the prolonged corona virus pandemic in Poland and in other countries over the world. The time when the standard conference based on safe personal visits to Poland could take place seems to be practically unpredictable. Therefore, the ISPDC 2020 organizers regret very much to take the decision to change the conference form from being hosted in the premises of ICS PAS and to organize the ISPDC 2020 as an on-line conference via the Internet at the same time as initially planned i.e. 5–8 July 2020. Following that, we extend the deadline for paper submissions until 11 May 2020. The ISPDC 2020 organizers will enable on-line presentations of accepted papers by their authors via the Internet during the conference sessions accessible to the conference participants. The presented papers will be published in the post-conference electronic proceedings.

We kindly invite original research and technical contributions to the 19th International Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Computing, aiming in bringing together researchers, engineers, and practitioners working on new algorithms, architectures and design methods for parallel and distributed computing at different stages of the hardware platform, system software and application program development. The conference will support the development of parallel and distributed computing techniques and the respective system technology by quick distribution of new ideas and concepts via the electronic media. The event aims at presentations of invited talks, contributed papers, tutorials and industrial sessions. The ISPDC 2020 conference organized on-line will provide an international forum for these purposes with an interactive and friendly professional atmosphere.

The 19th ISPDC event will follow successful previous editions in different venues since 2002. You are invited to read the ISPDC 2020 description on the conference web page https://ispdc2020.ipipan.waw.pl/.
